Skin Source MNL Reviews: Vanicream Vitamin C Serum with Ceramides

Written and personally tested by Lienett Santos · Skin Source MNL

I thought vitamin C just wasn’t for me.

I’d tried quite a few serums, from Wildleaf to Dear, Klairs and Garnier. After never finding one that suited me, I started exploring other ingredients for brightening and reducing the appearance of acne marks.

Then I came across Vanicream Vitamin C Serum With Ceramides. After a month of using it, I’m glad I gave vitamin C another chance.

Why I Decided to Try Vitamin C Again

My routine these days is fairly simple: tretinoin, azelaic acid, a gentle cleanser, a hydrating toner, and my holy grail moisturizer.

But, of course, I’m just a girl. Sometimes I want to try another skincare product.

Vanicream already had my trust. Its Gentle Facial Cleanser has been my holy grail for several months, so I was familiar with the brand before finding this serum.

Vitamin C still made me hesitate. But it was Vanicream, and it had ceramides—ingredients my skin tends to like. I thought, why not give it a try?

First Impressions: A Pump and a Surprisingly Light Texture

First, I love the packaging. It comes with a pump, which I prefer to the droppers on many of the vitamin C serums I’ve tried.

The texture surprised me even more. It’s milky white, slightly watery, and lightweight. I was used to vitamin C serums that felt thick or sticky, so this felt different from the start.

On my skin, it dries quickly. That’s something I appreciate when I have several steps to get through before starting my day.

"The milky, lightweight texture was one of my first surprises.”

What’s in the Formula?

Vanicream uses tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, a vitamin C derivative, rather than pure ascorbic acid. The brand describes the formula as designed for sensitive skin and includes ceramides alongside the vitamin C derivative. Vanicream’s official product information.

That combination caught my attention, but the real test was how the finished product would feel in my routine.

How I Use It With Azelaic Acid

I use Vanicream Vitamin C Serum in the morning, before my azelaic acid treatment. After cleansing and my toner step, my order is:

Vanicream Vitamin C Serum → Azelaic Acid → Moisturizer → Sunscreen

For me, it fitted like a glove. The lightweight feel and quick drying time make it easy to move on to the rest of my routine.

This is my personal experience with my products, rather than a routine everyone needs to copy. Formulas and skin tolerance differ.

My Experience After One Month

I’m not going to pretend I’ve seen a dramatic transformation. After a month, I can’t claim a major change in brightness or acne marks.

What I can say is that it has fitted comfortably into my routine. I haven’t experienced breakouts or redness while using it, and I enjoy the texture enough to keep reaching for it.

After my previous experiences with vitamin C serums, that matters to me. I’ve finally found one that feels easy to use.

The lack of dramatic results doesn’t tell me how it will perform over time. For now, this is an early review, and comfort has been its biggest win.

My Verdict: I’m Keeping It in My Routine

I’ll continue using Vanicream Vitamin C Serum With Ceramides. It feels promising, and I like that it has joined my morning routine without causing problems for my skin.

The pump, milky texture, and fast drying time have all made a good impression. I’m curious to see what continued use brings.

I once thought vitamin C wasn’t for me. This serum has given me a reason to reconsider.
