Skin Source MNL Reviews: La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+

Written and personally tested by Lienett Santos · Skin Source
Of course, a cult favorite had to make its way into my routine. La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+ gets plenty of attention, but what made me try it was something practical: my skin sometimes feels dry from using tretinoin.
I use tret every other day, so I wanted something for the nights in between—a little extra support when my skin needs moisture and a break from actives. Here’s how Cicaplast has fitted into that routine.

Why I started using Cicaplast Baume B5+
Tretinoin is a powerful active, and dryness sometimes comes with it in my routine. That’s why I started using Cicaplast on the nights I don’t apply tret. My intention was to give my skin time to recover and support my skin barrier.
I use it around 2–3 times a week on non-tretinoin nights, or as needed when my skin feels dry. For me, it has a supporting role, and that’s exactly what I wanted from it.
This is my personal schedule; if you use prescription tretinoin, follow your prescriber’s directions for your own routine.
The texture surprised me
Honestly, I expected it to feel heavy. It’s called a balm, so I imagined something thick and possibly uncomfortable sitting on my face.
But it’s surprisingly comfortable. On my skin, it doesn’t feel as heavy as I thought it would. That was a pleasant surprise, especially because texture can make such a difference to whether you enjoy using a product.

How my skin feels the next morning
The next day, my skin feels smooth and looks a little plumper. It’s a modest change, but one I notice.
That’s the experience that matters most to me with this product. I reach for it to support my skin when it feels dry, and I appreciate how my skin feels afterward.
These are my own observations, so your experience may differ.
The important ingredients
My experience is what keeps this review personal, but the formula is worth understanding too. Some key ingredients in Cicaplast Baume B5+ include:
- 5% panthenol, also called provitamin B5: Helps soothe skin and support its moisture barrier.
- Madecassoside: A compound associated with Centella asiatica, used for its soothing properties.
- Glycerin: Helps attract water to keep skin hydrated.
- Shea butter: Helps soften and nourish dry skin.
- Dimethicone: Helps reduce moisture loss by forming a protective layer.
- Tribioma: La Roche-Posay’s proprietary prebiotic complex, designed to support the skin’s microbiome.
Ingredient information is based on La Roche-Posay’s official B5+ product listing. Check your packaging for the formula specific to your product.
Is there anything I dislike?
So far, I haven’t found anything I dislike about it in my own routine. I wanted a product that could play a supporting role in my skin barrier care, and that’s how I use Cicaplast.
The comfortable feel was a surprise, and the smoothness and slightly plumper appearance the next morning are what stand out to me. I can only speak for my skin, but it has fitted well into my non-tretinoin nights.
My verdict
For me, La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+ earns its place through a simple combination: it feels comfortable, and my skin feels smooth and looks a little plumper the next day.
If you’ve been curious about the texture, I had the same hesitation. I expected a heavy balm, but that hasn’t been my experience.
